Ate9 Dance Company: Old/News
October 20 - October 22
“Agami is a maverick force within her community of makers across discipline areas and has emerged as choreographer whose contributions are bold, vitally honest and highly compelling.” —Kristy Edmunds, Artistic Director of CAP UCLA
Performing for the first time in Los Angeles in almost a year, Ate9 and Temple Israel of Hollywood present a double bill of Old/News, an updated version of choreographer Danielle Agami’s first work with her critically-acclaimed Ate9 Dance Company, coupled with her newest solo work. Both works showcase Ate9’s sensitive, honest movement and storytelling as they find the universal in the personal with striking images and remarkable craft.
The evening will feature the full company along with guest performer and author Nadav Heyman. In Old/News, Agami’s humor and choreographic innovation come through in full force as the dancers embody the complexity of contemporary relationships. Later, Agami takes the stage herself for the Los Angeles premiere of Framed, her first self-choreographed solo performance. In addition to Agami’s always-impressive control of personal, gestural movement, she also delicately weaves a story of love and hate with the things she holds dearest in life- performing, relationships, hosting, and her body.
