Performing for the first time in Los Angeles since the highly acclaimed premiere of calling glenn at Royce Hall, Old/News is a rare opportunity to see an updated version of Sally Meets Stu, choreographer Danielle Agami’s first work with her critically-acclaimed company Ate9, coupled with her newest solo work, Framed. Both works are incredibly sensitive and honest in their movement and storytelling as they find the universal in the personal with striking images and remarkable craft.
Sally Meets Stu features the full company along with guest performer and author Nadav Heyman. Agami’s humor and choreographic innovation come through in full force as the Ate9 dancers bring to life a simple, but not so simple, love story. Then, Agami takes the stage herself for the Los Angeles premiere of Framed, her first self-choreographed solo performance. In addition to Agami’s always-impressive control of personal, gestural movement, she also delicately weaves a story of love and hate with the things she holds dearest in life- performing, relationships, hosting, and her body. Known for her ability to find truth in the absurd, Agami delivers an intimate performance that touches the heart and mind.
