April 21 @ 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Janice Mautner Markham, the vibrant violinist of Mostly Kosher, joins us from her own home on Tuesday night to perform on the 100+-year-old violin her grandfather Eugene Mautner bought on the streets of Hungary. Unrefined in look, but beautiful in sound, the instrument’s legacy now includes thousands of violinists, including many of Janice’s own relatives. Come hear the remarkable story of this roughly-hewn instrument and a special 20-minute Yom Hashoah-inspired concert that includes violin solos and ensemble music performed by Janice (violin) and her daughters’ Raina Markham (violin) and Czeska Markham (cello).
To remember those lost during the Holocaust, the musical program will be followed by a Yom Hashoah memorial service led by the TIOH Rabbis and Cantorial Soloist.
